Description
Le Vendome Inter-Continental Beirut is the first Inter-Continental Hotel to reopen after the war.
Originally called Le Vendome and opened in 1966, the hotel was owned and managed by La Societe Hoteliere Fakhoury. Known as the enclave of the rich and famous, Le Vendome was frequented by the Lebanese jet - set and international celebrities. The Hotel also enjoyed reputation as being a patron of the arts.
In 1974, Le Vendome was sold to La Societe Des Grands Hotels Du Liban. It closed and re-opened several times during the war before it was permanently closed in 1983. In 1984, the owning company decided to restore the hotel to its former glory, and in 1995 it signed a management agreement with Inter-Continental Hotels And Resorts. Le Vendome Inter-Continental Beirut, a 73 Room French style boutique hotel, was opened on the 1st of November 1996.
